The survey agency Orbis Research predicts that the global milk substitute market will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 15.3%, from 11.1 billion U.S. dollars in 2016 to 22.6 billion U.S. dollars in 2021.

 

As a pioneer in the promotion of plant milk, the US market has naturally grown rapidly. Mintel, a market research and consulting company, pointed out in its US milk substitute research report that the sales of US plant milk increased steadily from 2012 to 2017, and reached

US$2.1 billion, an increase of 61% from 2012.

 

China, the representative of emerging economies, is also very popular. In 2017, the then R&D manager of Want Want Group stated that China's vegetable milk market will double in the next two to three years, reaching 55 billion yuan.

 

In contrast, the dairy product market is bleak. According to Rabobank data, global liquid milk sales have fallen by 3.5% in the five years ending in 2017. According to another Mintel report, milk sales in the United States will fall to 15.9 billion in 2020, a decrease of 11% from 2015.
